Based in the UK, Emily Cato is a Children's Picture Book Illustrator who has recently graduated from Birmingham City University with a Master's degree in Children's Book Illustration. Emily's work consists of combining hand-rendered and digital elements together by using various print-making textures with digital brushes.
Emily's style, well, I guess you could say it has a still, colourful and narrative atmosphere about it, making it ideal for a young audience. As well as this, illustrating stories for children is a great love of Emily's, as she absolutely enjoys the freedom of imagination this form of design has to offer, but it also has many educational and emotional benefits to reader of all ages too. Plus, you can also be a kid again creating stories by letting your creativity run wild!
Emily loves to portray nature as a subject matter within her work, particularly autumnal woodland/forest settings and creatures. Probably deriving from her childhood and all the time playing with her brother outside exploring the local countryside. Together, they would always be drawing and making things, and one day, she thought, why not turn this passion into a career?
Although Emily's specialisms and expertise have been listed above, if you have a project in mind, give Emily a shout and she'll be more than happy to help!
